Vintage Hat for the NC State Fair 2011

When I was trying to decide what hat I wanted to make this year for the adult hat category I came across Purple Kitty's website. Just loved the Queenie Beanie hat pattern. So I went to AC Moore yesterday at lunch time to look for a vintage color yarn to make this cool hat.

Here were the three colors I fell in love with in the yarn department. I am really hearing the green call my name. Today at lunch I started the hat in the aqua color as a tester to see if I was going to have any issues with the pattern. There are 11 rows total on this hat and I got through row 7 on my lunch hour. Man this hat works up fast. The braid with probably take forever but the hat has been a dream to crochet.

Piet Mondrian Afghan Update

Here is a picture of the bottom half of the never ending Mondrian afghan. I am almost done with the white squares I need to finish the last block for the top. Might sew in tails or might start the red squares. Why do I keep putting off those little red squares! LOL Back to my lunch before my hour is over.

Checking in

Just noticed it has been awhile since I posted last. Have been busy with work, baby and side business. I have been a listing machine on Amazon. Trying to work on getting all the action figures listed to find them all new homes. One day I will have a dining room. But a full dining room beats losing a bedroom. We are working on finding an outdoor storage building to move the stock into. There is a plug already outside from the previous owner so we are all set.

Joanne is growing like a weed and is walking around like a pro. She can walk from the back of the kitchen to the middle of the living room before her bottom hits the floor. It is looking like she is going to be a lefty because she feeds herself much better with that hand and she is always grabbing stuff with her left hand more.

I have started working on the Piet Mondrian inspired Red, Blue and Yellow afghan for the state fair this year. I was looking at my notes and I started this thing on November 19, 2005! It is so time I finish this thing this year!! I have 169 red and 28 white granny squares left to make then the joining fun begins. They are two inch granny squares. Once the blocks are joined, all I have to do is edge them in black then join the top piece to the finished bottom piece and I am done. Only have 80 days left until the turn in date for judging.
